Principal Software Development Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE Sidra Tech is seeking an experienced Principal Software Development Engineer to provide technical leadership, shape software architecture, and deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance enterprise technology solutions. The successful candidate will lead complex engineering initiatives, influence technical strategy, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to build reliable and maintainable software systems. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Lead large-scale engineering initiatives from solution design through implementation and delivery. • Define technical direction, architectural standards, and engineering strategies aligned with business objectives. • Translate complex business requirements into scalable, maintainable, and secure technical solutions. • Lead architecture discussions, design reviews, and technology evaluations across engineering teams. • Make informed build-versus-buy decisions and drive legacy modernization initiatives. • Contribute to software design, development, coding, and troubleshooting of complex technical problems. • Design scalable software architectures for distributed systems and cloud environments. • Evaluate emerging technologies, frameworks, programming languages, and development methodologies. • Collaborate with product managers, architects, engineering leaders, and business stakeholders. • Promote software quality, automation, security, and engineering best practices. • Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance across development teams. • Support production systems and drive continuous improvements in reliability and performance. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA / REQUIRED SKILLS • Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and operating large-scale software systems. • Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages and modern development frameworks. • Expertise in software architecture, system design, distributed systems, and scalable application development. • Experience with public and private cloud infrastructure, preferably Microsoft Azure, and hybrid-cloud architecture. • Understanding of cloud infrastructure, security, reliability, and operational excellence. • Experience leading complex technical programmes and influencing architectural decisions across teams. • Knowledge of automated testing, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and production support. • Experience mentoring engineers and establishing technical standards. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration abilities. • Ability to balance technical excellence with business objectives and customer needs.
